Strategic Planning

As a school community, we strive to serve our students by learning and growing—seeking to improve as individual teachers, leaders, and as an organization. Established in 2003, Confluence Academies has grown from one campus with 245 students to four campuses serving 2,500 students. Tremendous growth and change have marked our first 20-plus years, but student achievement and family choice remain at our core.

To ensure that our actions and goals are aligned and to set the course for the next three years, in 2025 the Confluence Board of Directors approved the implementation of an in-depth strategic planning process. From this process came five main areas of focus.

As a school community, we look forward to engaging all of our stakeholders (parents/guardians, students, staff, and community) in fulfilling plans and achieving goals.

Academic Excellence

Financial Sustainability

Confluence Academies is committed to optimizing its school mix to ensure sustainable, high-performing campuses. The organization aims to maximize student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and attendance at each school. Key financial management initiatives include refining staffing models, master scheduling, and internal controls to maximize instructional staff utilization. Additionally, Confluence is implementing cost-saving measures—such as transportation and substitute use—and strengthening budget management.

High Quality Teachers

Confluence Academies is committed to attracting and retaining top talent by developing and applying an ideal teacher profile and offering competitive, differentiated benefits. These include opportunities for career advancement, job satisfaction initiatives, and incentives tied to attendance, certification/credentials, and exceptional performance. The organization also supports staff wellness and explores innovative teaching alternatives, including the use of technology and AI as part of its strategy.

Leadership Excellence

Confluence Academies is committed to strengthening leadership by attracting Board Directors and Friends of Confluence members with community ties, corporate connections, key expertise, and backgrounds that reflect the communities served. This includes developing ideal profiles and supporting ongoing board development. At the school level, the organization is enhancing leadership by defining ideal principal profiles, identifying growth opportunities such as mentoring, and supporting recruitment. Additionally, succession planning is a priority to ensure strong, sustainable leadership across all staff positions.

High Impact Partnerships

Confluence Academies is committed to building High-Impact Partnerships by identifying, assessing, and leveraging relationships that function as true strategic partners. The organization is streamlining existing partnerships, addressing gaps, and assigning staff leadership to oversee these efforts. It is also targeting large corporate, community, and political partnerships with a focus on philanthropy and grants. Additionally, it fosters family partnerships through a reimagined Parent Compact and enhanced social-emotional support.
