School Closings - Inclement Weather, etc.
Dear Confluence Families and Staff,
With our recent winter storm reminding us how quickly plans can change, we wanted to make sure our families and staff know all of the ways we'll share information when we need to close schools.
If school is canceled or delayed for any reason, including poor or severe weather or for an emergency, Confluence Academies will make the announcement through several channels to reach you as quickly and as effectively as possible.
Closings are announced through:
- The website for Confluence Academies (www.confluenceacademy.org)
- Local TV stations: KTVI FOX 2, KMOV Ch.4, KSDK Ch.5, ABC 30, and News 11
- Autodial phone calls to families and staff at phone numbers on file
- School social media pages-CPA, Old North, South City, and GCAA
- Network (Confluence Academies) social media page
- X-@Confluence_Acad
- Email to Confluence staff
- Email to Confluence families
- Text messaging via the Parent Portal
We will also announce early dismissals from school using these methods.
The decision to cancel school, particularly for severe weather, is generally made by 5:00 a.m. on the day of concern. We begin notifying our school communities as soon as possible after a decision is made. Consulting multiple methods above is best.
NOTE: Make-up days may be needed if school is cancelled for any reason, including weather. These days are added to the end of the school year, typically in late May and early June. Make-up days are listed on the academic calendar located on our website under the Families section.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in providing safe schools.
Sincerely,
Dr. Candice Carter-Oliver, CEO
