Tornado Recovery Resources Letter Published 8/19/25
Dear Confluence Families,
It was wonderful welcoming our students back to school this week! As the new school year gets underway, we remain mindful of the families in our Confluence community who were impacted by the devastating tornado on May 16.
To help ensure our families have access to resources, I am sharing the latest FEMA Recovery Update and other important recovery information. Please take note of the upcoming deadlines and assistance opportunities below.
FEMA Individual Assistance Deadline
- August 26 is the final day to submit your FEMA Individual Assistance application if you live in St. Louis City or St. Louis County and sustained damage to your home or personal property.
- If your damage was not covered by insurance, FEMA may provide money for:
- Home repairs
- Temporary housing
- Essential personal property
- Other disaster-related needs
- FEMA assistance does not need to be repaid.
Disaster Recovery Centers (St. Louis City)
FEMA and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) staff are available to help with applications, answer questions, and upload required documents.

FEMA Rental Assistance
If you do not have a safe place to live:
- Apply for rental assistance at a Disaster Recovery Center or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
- Assistance may help cover rent and security deposits.
- Continued Temporary Housing Assistance (CTHA) may be available if additional time is needed while working toward permanent housing.
Staying in Touch with FEMA
- Apply and track your application at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.
- Keep receipts for disaster-related purchases and contractor estimates.
- A home inspection is required before FEMA can approve money. Inspectors will present FEMA identification and never ask for payment.
Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loans
Low-interest loans are available to help homeowners, renters, and businesses. The deadline to apply is August 26.
