The Board of Directors of Confluence Charter Schools held its annual meeting on June 25. The meeting agenda included revisions to the academic calendar for 2015-2016.
Due to changes to the Saint Louis Public Schools calendar for the coming year, announced in late May, it was necessary for Confluence to make similar adjustments. Simply put, when SLPS and Confluence schools are in session on the same days, student attendance is higher in our schools. If SLPS is out of school and Confluence is not, some Confluence students do not come to school.
The first day of school is Monday, August 17, for all Confluence Charter Schools. The date is about a week later than previously expected, which was August 11.
We understand there may be some concerns for parents who need to extend child care until school starts. As we become aware of extended summer programs, we will make announcements on our website, social media sites and back-to-school mailings.
