Catching up with CPA Alumni Raph Green

We recently sat down to catch up with CPA Alumni Raphael Green from the class of 2017. He is currently working as a news reporter at the Houston Chronicle.  He shared with us a reflection on his time at CPA and what he's been up to since then.

Is there something that you will always remember from your high school experience?

I will always remember playing sports throughout high school, it helped me stay out of trouble and open doors with bigger opportunities to play in college.

If you could create your own course in high school, what would it be and why is it of interest to you?

If I could create my own course it would be a “Financial course.” It would’ve really helped me learn ways to save or invest money.

What advice would you give to seniors at your high school right now?

Don't worry too much about what goes on in high school because it doesn’t matter when you’re older!

Can you tell us about a project that you were particularly proud of during your college years?

I graduated from Lincoln University of Missouri in '21. I’m proud of interning as a sports announcer throughout college because it helped me with communication skills that I use today.

Who encouraged you the most in high school/college?

My family encouraged me the most throughout high school. There were also a few special teachers who gave me advice during high school: Mr. Robinson, Mr. Cable, Mr. Shift, Ms. Southerland-Wade and Ms. Chamberlain. Thank you!
